About The Committees

The Membership Committee hosts a yearly membership drive, maintains membership records, and plans events for current and potential members, including a summer barbeque and a Welcome to DC Party.

The Technology Committee maintains the DC Hoos website and is responsible for the technological aspects of the club.

The Service Committee plans monthly service projects for alumni, in addition to coordinating Cavaliers Care Week for the DC area. Cavaliers Care is a Young Alumni Council initiative to have all UVa alumni around the globe participate in service projects to commemorate Thomas Jefferson's birthday.

The Schools Committee reaches out to high school students and guidance counselors through college fairs and information sessions, and organizes a phone-a-thon to welcome newly accepted students.

The Social Committee plans a variety of activities including happy hours, hiking trips, Gold Cup, theater events, wine tastings, and much more.

The Sports Committee coordinates all of the club's athletic teams: Softball, Soccer, Kickball, Basketball, and Flag Football. In addition, the committee organizes game-watching events for UVA Football and Basketball.
