Come out for some outdoor bonding with fellow Wahoos as we assist the Horticulture department at the Zoo with gardening/yard activities. Afterwards we'll provide ice cream!
Free parking will be provided; however taking the metro is encouraged
Wear appropriate gardening attire you don't mind getting dirty (i.e.: closed toe shoes, hat, layers)
Tools will be provided
Bring gloves if you want them, as they will not be provided
Bring water, as it will be toasty!
Must be 18 years of age or older
The project will go on rain or shine
Car Directions:
The Zoo is on Connecticut Ave north of Dupont Circle.
Coming from Dupont Circle the Zoo will be on the right hand side. The automobile entrance is just beyond the pedestrian entrance. Follow signs to Parking Lot C (the second on your left). When leaving the parking lot take the path on the right which will bring you alongside the Greenhouse.
Coming south on Connecticut Ave, the automobile entrance is just past the Kennedy Warren apartment building. You will reach it before the pedestrian entrance. Take a left and and go to Parking Lot C. When leaving the parking lot take the path on the right which will bring you alongside the Greenhouse.
Metro Directions:
Take the Red Line towards Shady Grove and exit at the Woodley Park/Zoo or Cleveland Park stops. The distances to the zoo are equal. From Woodley Park the walk is uphill. From Cleveland Park the walk is flat. It takes approximately ten minutes to walk to the zoo from the Metro stops.
Walk through the park to the Reptile Discovery Center (RDC). Take a left immediately after RDC and before Think Tank and find a boardwalk going down the hill. The Greenhouse is at the bottom of the hill just across the road. Click here for a map of the zoo.
