The holidays are just around the corner! Get in the festive spirit and join us for "Christmas Carol 1941", a refreshing new take on the classic holiday story by Charles Dickens. Directed by Molly Smith and adapted by James Magruder, this Arena Stage production is set in Washington, D.C. in the first Christmas after Peal Harbor. The Schoen family must sacrifice to celebrate the holidays while grappling with their son’s determination to enlist in the war. Meanwhile, the selfish G Street businessman Elijah Strube is only concerned with war profiteering until he encounters three local spirits who teach him the real meaning of community and family. Complete with original songs by Henry Kreiger (Dreamgirls), the show features “everything from a high-energy USO dance to White House fireside chats.

We’ve reserved seats exclusively for UVA alumni and guests at a special group rate, and for those who want to start the merriment even earlier, we are finalizing arrangements for an optional pre-theater dinner. (Tickets will be offered separately; more information will be sent out to those who register for the show).
