On April 17, the UVaClub of Washington will celebrate Founders Day by raising a birthday toast to honor Thomas Jefferson. In an effort to outreach to a broader range of UVa alumni, this is no longer a ticketed event but a hosted celebration for invited guests.
Thomas Jefferson maintained a lifelong commitment to the spirit of community and a robust appreciation for the arts. To continue in Mr. Jeffersons tradition, the UVaClub of Washington invites local alumni to engage with us to promote the life of the University community right here in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Guests who attend this lively cocktail party will enjoy:
- A delicious selection of hors d'oeuvres
- Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages
- One complimentary drink and a cash bar

About the Venue
Each year, the UVaClub of Washington celebrates the University's founder by holding a semiformal function at a historic venue in or around Washington DC.
The 2009 Toast to Jefferson Cocktail Party will be held once again at the Arts Club of Washington in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood. The Arts Club of Washington was founded in 1916 and is the oldest non-profit arts organization in Washington, D.C.
The Arts Club headquarters, composed of the James Monroe House and the MacFeeley House, is a national historic landmark. James Monroe and his wife were residents here when he served as secretary of state, and the James Monroe House briefly served as the president's residence after Monroe was inaugurated in March 1817.
